Real Men Like Players in a Band
"God can show Himself as He really is only to real men. And that means not simply to men who are individually good, but to men who are united together in a body, loving one another, helping one another, showing Him to one another. For that is what God meant humanity to be like; like players in one band, or organs in one body." - C. S. Lewis
Most of you are now familiar with the hit A&E reality series "Duck Dynasty" which is about family patriarch Phil "Duck Commander" Robertson, his wife and their three bearded sons. They're in the duck call and decoy business in Louisiana and their show ends with the family praying at the dinner table. It is cable TV's #1 program.

Check out Phil Robertson's riveting testimony about his faith in Jesus Christ HERE. This is the power of the gospel! Phil is my kind of redneck! We're the same age, same rural country roots and he's my Brother in Christ!!
WHAT IS A REAL MAN?
The Apostle Paul tells us how he knew he had crossed over into manhood. In 1 Corinthians 13: 11 he writes, "When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child, BUT WHEN I BECAME A MAN, I did away with childish things."

What a man surrenders to will determine his outcome as a man. Real manhood steps away from childish things. Real manhood means we courageously step up to whatever challenge, temptation or battle we face and do our duty, knowing and delighting in who we are in Christ. Check out these "man-on-the-street" interviews on "When Does a Boy Become a Man? HERE

"Jesus is the Vision for True Masculinity"
Below is an incredibly helpful, must-read article on biblical manhood by our friend Pastor Darrin Patrick that will challenge you and encourage you!

"We need a vision for masculinity. We need a model. We need to see a man rooted and secure in his calling. A man with no crisis of identity--constantly trying to prove himself (Matthew 3:17). One who lived his life with passion and persistence. A man whose masculinity is worth imitating. Jesus is the vision for true masculinity.

"Men are experiencing an identity crisis. And we're short on role models. We're caught between Don Draper as the alpha male and a whole crew of omega males like Judd Apatow. One tries to express masculinity through power, possessions, and promiscuity. The other group has stopped trying altogether. Unlike us, these other guys seem to be getting something out of their isolation and discontentment, their rebellion, and their lack of discipline. We're stuck with pain and hardship.

"We need a more compelling vision for masculinity. We need to see a man so utterly rooted and secure in his identity that he can actually embody masculinity for us. A man with no crisis of identity, pursuing his calling with passion and persistence. A man whose masculinity is not vain and self-serving.

"We need to look to Jesus, the true and perfect Man." READ MORE

Apparently, he was in the elevator one day when a young woman came in. Proctor tipped his hat at her. She was offended and said, 'What is that supposed to mean?' The pastor's response was: 'Madame, by tipping my hat I was telling you several things. That I would not harm you in any way. That if someone came into this elevator and threatened you, I would defend you. That if you fell ill, I would tend to you and if necessary carry you to safety. I was telling you that even though I am a man and physically stronger than you, I will treat you with both respect and solicitude. But frankly, Madame, it would have taken too much time to tell you all of that; so, instead, I just tipped my hat."
Here's a wonderfully illustrative story of what it means to be an authentic man from the life of Samuel Proctor, Pastor of Harlem's Abyssinian Baptist Church:
Biblical Manhood as Chivalry
Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson on the Power of the Gospel
The Gospel 4 Men
"The power of the gospel comes in two movements. It first says, 'I am more sinful and flawed than I ever dared believe,' but then quickly follows with, 'I am more accepted and loved than I ever dared hope,"

One of our deepest concerns about the manhood crisis in our culture, and even in many churches, is the "War on Boys". Dr. Christina Hoff Sommers, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington
The War On Boys - A Clarion Call To Dads
DC, has done extensive research and writing about what's happening to boys and young men in our culture. She is one of the keenest observers of this alarming trend and in this video clip she offers some practical ideas about how to help our boys to keep and enhance their masculine identity. Dr. Sommers rightly observes, "If boys are in trouble, so are we are!" Read More

Beware of "Gender-neutral" Bibles!
Ministries to men that are serious about dealing with gender confusion in the culture and in the church should start first by avoiding the TNIV and NIV11 translations. Both
badly miss the mark regarding the textual foundation for biblical manhood and womanhood. Here's why: HERE
The "Me" Monster: A Brian Regan Video
Comedian Brian Regan takes on those guys who always talk about themselves - who they are, what they've done, what they got. They have to have the last word and gotta top anything anyone has to say...until they come up against ...   HERE
"We never 'get beyond the gospel' in our Christian life to something more 'advanced.' The gospel is not the first 'step' in a 'stairway' of truths, rather, it
is more like the 'hub' in a 'wheel' of truth. The gospel is not just the A-B-Cs of Christianity, but it is the A to Z of Christianity. We are not justified by the gospel and then sanctified by obedience but the gospel is the way we grow (Galatians 3:1-3) and are renewed. (Col. 1:).... The main problem, then, in the Christian life is that we have not thought out the deep implications of the gospel ... The key to continual and deeper spiritual renewal and revival is the continual re-discovery of the gospel." - Dr. Tim Keller
